Things that inspire me: Kinetic Typography
by Klas Lundberg on Feb.28, 2011, under Check this out, Trends
Animated typography will probably be one of the coolest trends during 2011 thanks to CSS3. Personally I love it! The Swedish TV channel 9 have a trailer for Mad Men which is probably the most beautiful trailer I have ever seen.
I discovered it a while ago, but I saw it once again just a couple of minutes ago. It filled my heart with passion once again, so I just had to post it here. Enjoy!
Trends 2010: It’s all about color baby
by Klas Lundberg on Apr.01, 2010, under Trends
Color is maybe the strongest trend of this year. Strong, vivid colors is the thing to look for and be inspired by. Just try to look beyond the basic colors and look for those who are not obvious. Well, the obvious will work great too, but my point is that there are a lot of colors and color combinations that we don’t think about right away. And yeah, you have to combine them with strong contrast in any way you can think of. If you need a tool for it, Adobe Kuler is the way to go.
Here are a couple of sources for inspiration:

Web trends 2010: Typography
by Klas Lundberg on Feb.16, 2010, under Trends
The web has come to a new level when it comes to typography. The old traditional font stacks that are commonly used in CSS are outdated. More importantly, there are lots of other fonts available for use on the web. Many of the new type-faces are also optimized for LCD-screens, to take full advantage of subpixel aniti-aliasing such as ClearType.
To help web developers and designers to make their own font stacks, Code Style has made a font stack builder, which you can use to build your own stacks. The great thing about this tool is that you instantly see how many of the users in general, that can view the fonts you pick for your stack. The statistics are based on their font stack survey, which collects data about fonts on your computer if you participate.
Here is a personal favorite font stack which I put together myself. It’s based on the Calibri font from Microsoft.
1 | font-family: Calibri, Corbel, "Bitstream Vera Sans", Helvetica, Verdana; |
Which looks like this:
10pt: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
12pt: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
14pt: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
18pt: The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.
So check out my Calibri font stack for CSS or start building your own font stacks.
New style for the blog!
by Klas Lundberg on Feb.16, 2010, under Check this out
The blog has gotten a facelift to match this great year of 2010! The previous style was a bit boring and outdated. I think I will change it a bit more, but this will do for now. =)
The style is based on the Pixel theme by Sam and you can get it at his site 85 Ideas. I think it really captures many of the trends for webdesign this year and I really love it!
